AMANAC Project Ends

The AMANAC project ended in December 2016.

It was a great opportunity for FoAM-BUILD to be part of this cluster and to benefit from the network as well as participate in different events.

In addition, the collaboration with other organisations in the area of “Nanotechnologies for multifunctional lightweight construction materials and components” was extremely useful.

AMANAC wiki

Wiki has now been introduced to the AMANAC website.

This is an open resource to support the sharing of information and exchange of ideas and aims to stimulate further research collaboration to deliver AMANAC’s core aims of maximising the impact of the participating projects.

VII International Congress on Architectural Envelopes (May 2015)

The VII International Congress on Architectural Envelopes (ICAE 2015) will take place on 27th to 29th May 2015 and will be hosted by Tecnalia Research and Innovation at:

Palacio de Congresos y

The event, which is held every 3 years, will take place at the Kursal Congress Center at Donostia – San Sebastian (Spain). The main topic of the Congress is related to “Smartization” and/or the introduction of new technologies in Architectural Envelopes.

The Advanced Material and NAnotechnology Cluster (AMANAC) aims to maximize the impact of the cluster participating projects towards the European Industry and Society. In collaboration with TECNALIA, the AMANAC projects have been allocated time in the frame of the ICAE Congress to present project results and to promote the scope of the Cluster.

The following AMANAC events are planned:

Wednesday, 27 May 2015: “AMANAC projects special session” (11.30 – 16.45)
(Organisers: Garcia Gonzalez, Miriam miriam.garcia@tecnalia.com, Maria Founti mfou@central.ntua.gr and Goiti Ugarte, Eunate eunate.goiti@tecnalia.com)

The projects participating in the six thematic areas of AMANAC will have the chance to present their results in this special “AMANAC projects” session. The Session will cover oral presentations and posters.

Project coordinators are requested to inform their project partners about this opportunity.

Topics to be covered are:

  • Buildings with low embodied energy materials
  • Lightweight materials and components for construction
  • Nano based insulation systems
  • Nano based HVAC systems
  • Healthier indoor environment
  • Smart windows

Abstracts from all AMANAC Thematic Areas can be submitted via the Congress web page: http://www.icae2015.com/en/papers/scientific_technical_conferences.html

following the paper submission instructions and deadlines. The abstracts should mention “AMANAC Session” in their heading.

The deadline for abstract submission is 31/01/2015.

The template for abstracts can be found at: http://www.icae2015.com/fotos/varios/Abstract_guidelines_en.doc

The abstracts will be evaluated by an AMANAC Scientific committee.

AMANAC Project partners are urged to additionally submit their work in other Sessions of ICAE

Thursday, 28 May 2015: AMANAC General Assembly and AMANAC-CSA meeting (09.00 – 11.00)
(Organiser:, Maria Founti mfou@central.ntua.gr)

The General Assembly will focus only on the update of the Action Plans. The AMANAC-CSA Steering Committee meeting will be open to all AMANAC project partners and will also focus on the planning of dissemination activities.

Thursday, 28 May 2015: “AMANAC FIRE Workshop” (11.30 – 14.00)
(Organisers: Garcia Gonzalez, Miriam miriam.garcia@tecnalia.com, Maria Founti mfou@central.ntua.gr, Goiti Ugarte, Eunate eunate.goiti@tecnalia.com)

As part of the AMANAC-CSA activities, a workshop on fire engineering will be organized under the ICAE umbrella. The workshop will address four topics:

  • New trends in fire-retardant materials
  • Reaction to Fire and Resistance to Fire Testing and related European Regulations: Challenges for advanced Materials
  • Façade and Structural fire Testing: State of the Art and future needs
  • Computational tools for Fire Research: Potentials and link to Performance based Codes.

Thursday, 28 May 2015: Joint AMANAC and Indoor Environment Quality (IEQ) Cluster meeting (15:30 – 17:30)
(Organiser: Frick, Jürgen Juergen.Frick@mpa.uni-stuttgart.de)
